Wardell Quezergue, The Creole Beethoven grew up playing trumpet in the 7th ward and became an architect of New Orleans R&B. Mr. Quezergue, who wrote such classics as Barefootin, Iko Iko, and Groove Me, lost his New Orleans East home in the flood.
